Lady Canes magical season over 45-43 to Bethel Park
The Canes never led in a game in which they couldn't buy a bucket in the first period. New Castle tied the game at 16 in the second quarter and trailed by as much as eight during the second half.
But trailing by six with 33 seconds left Jaleah Robinson hit a 'three' and was fouled on the floor after the shot. The Canes were in the double bonus and Robinson made both free throws for a 'five point play' to get the Canes within one 41-40. Bethel Park made two free throws then after a Canes' turnover and a steal back, Maria Joseph hit a long 'three' to tie the game  at 43 with 11.9 seconds to play. However the Blackhawks scored with about five seconds left to claim the victory.

WPIAL CHAMPS!!!
Lady Canes shut down Oakland Catholic 36-32
The Canes trailed only once, after the Eagles first basket, 2-0. Natalie Wallace tied the game and New Castle never looked back holding Oakland Catholic to just three points in the first quarter, five in the second and just nine in the third. The Lady Red Hurricanes survived a fourth quarter barrage of 'threes' with clutch free throw shooting in the last minute of play by Maria Joseph (3 of 4), Jelessa Sams (3 of 4), and Ashley Wise (1 of 2), to top #1 ranked and defending State Champion Eagles.
