With first place in the Quad North up for grabs the Hurricanes went on the road to face the North Hills Indians. The Indians with a formidable passing attack used that weapon to come from behind to snuff out the Hurricanes. With just over five minutes left to play and the Canes up by a point 13-12 the North Hills Indians hit a 50 yard bomb to take the lead. The Canes could get no further than the North Hill 47 as they tried to respond and stay unblemished in league play. New Castle gave way under the Indians attack 18-13.

The Red Hurricanes struck first after a North Hills fumble and led early 7-0. North Hills quickly got things even and then scored again and led 12-7.

North Hills maintained that lead at the half.

New Castle received the second half kick and started deep in their own territory. After just three plays the Canes had to punt.

The Indians returned the favor and punted back after just three plays of their own. With the Canes taking over at their own 21.

14 plays and just over seven minutes later New Castle was in the end zone and had the lead 13-12. The Hurricanes went for two but failed.

North Hills then returned the Red and Black’s kickoff of to the 42. The Indians first play was a 17 yard pass that put them at the Canes door step at the 25. A tackle for a loss and a 10 yard penalty gave the Indians a second and 21. The Canes blitzed with John Rosati causing a fumble which was recovered at the Indian 46 by Justin Finamore.

On second down Rosati ran 14 yards to the 28. Facing fourth and eight at the 26 the Canes went to the end zone only to be picked off.

With seven minutes to play North Hills now had 80 yards to go. In just two plays the Indians were at the New Castle 47. After a loss of four and an incomplete pass North Hills had a third and 14. That’s when the Indians struck for 50 yard pass to take the lead 18-13. The missed two point conversion left the Indians lead at five.

New Castle got the ball back with 4:52 to play. Corey Lemmon squeezed through the line and picked up two first downs as the Canes reached their 47. However Devon James was tackled for a loss setting up a second and 17. Lemmon got the ball back to midfield but an incomplete pass and a sack on fourth down sent the Hurricanes to their first league loss, 18-12.
