After a horrendous first half which saw the Canes garner only 45 yards total offense they played with the heart of champions in the second half coming back from 14 points down to beat Seneca Valley 20-17.

Following a scoreless first quarter Seneca Valley scored first on a three yard run. A missed PAT gave the Raiders a 6-0 lead. On the first play of their next possession Seneca Valley moved ahead 12-0 on the strength of a 66 yard run. The Raiders completed a pass for two and held a 14-0 lead at intermission.

New Castle received the second half kick off and began a patented methodical drive up the field. The drive culminated in a John Rosati touchdown run of 14 yards. Pasquale Romano kicked the PAT and the Canes cut the lead in half, 14-7. The drive was highlighted a Corey Lemmon eight yard run on a fourth and four at the 29 yard line. Lemmon was nearly stopped on the run but broke numerous tackles to get the first down and keep the drive alive.

Seneca Valley went three and out on the next series punting the ball back to the Canes.

The Canes again began to move back up the field. This time a Lemmon 24 yard run was the key to getting the Hurricanes to the doorstep again. Once more it was Rosati finding the end zone this time from five yards out. Romano’s PAT tied the game at 14.

The Raiders took the kick off and began a long drive of their own. 13 plays and 68 yards later the Canes held at their own nine yard line. The Raiders hit a 26 yard field goal to regain the lead 17-14.

New Castle started their next possession at their own 20. No methodical drive this time as Rosati went for 80 yard on the first play from scrimmage. Seneca blocked the kick and the Canes held only a three point lead, 20-17.

Seneca Valley received the kick off with eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. They marched right down the field to the New Castle six yard line with 1:28 left in the game. Facing a fourth and goal from there the Raiders attempted a field goal. The kick was wide left.

The Canes ran out the clock and held on to win 20-17.

John Rosati finished the game with 155 yards rushing on 16 carries.
